Topic: FAITH DOES NOT DENY THE FACTS
THEME SCRIPTURE:
2 Corinthians 4:17-18 (NKJV)
[17] For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, [18] while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.
MESSAGE:
Until we understand the dynamics of faith and how it operates, we may not know the difference between faith and foolishness. Some of God’s children are walking in foolishness, and they equate that to faith.
Faith does not deny the facts of a matter. If there’s headache, for a example, faith doesn’t say, “There’s no headache.” Denying the existence of headache doesn’t make the headache go! Rather, faith uses the truth of God’s Word to change the facts of the matter. Faith says something like: “Although, there’s headache, I’m not supposed to carry this headache; because, Jesus was wounded for my transgressions; He was bruised for my iniquities. The punishment for my peace was laid upon Him, and by His stripes, I am healed.”
This is the exact picture painted by our theme Scripture. It says, “For our light affliction, WHICH IS BUT FOR A MOMENT...” Faith didn’t deny the existence of the affliction; it acknowledged its existence, only that, faith called it, “LIGHT AFFLICTION!” In other words, faith refused to be overwhelmed by the weight of the affliction. The phrase, “...which is but for a moment” implies, faith didn’t deny the existence of the affliction. “Which is..” means, it exists; it’s real. The affliction is undeniable. Faith then went ahead to say, “...but for a moment.” In other words, although faith acknowledged the existence of the affliction, it also knew that the affliction wasn’t forever! It was, BUT FOR A MOMENT!
We will examine how faith is able to achieve this, in our next devotion. But suffice it to say, that, faith does not deny the facts of a matter. Rather, faith uses the truth of God’s Word to change the facts of that matter.
