Scripture reading: Ephesians 6:10-18
Main text
Ephesians 6:10-11
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
A solid church is informed and instructed in spiritual warfare. Churches die and believers are destroyed when they are ignorant about the devices of the enemy. We do not wrestle against flesh and blood but against principalities and powers (2 Corinthians 10:3-5). These principalities and powers are the gatekeepers of hell.
The apostle Paul calls on the Church to be strong in the Lord. He directs us to put on the whole armour of God and not part of it. Prayer is the means by which we put on the armour of God. A prayerless church or believer cannot stand. Prayer is the means by which we contend with the agents of darkness. The weapons of our warfare are mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds.
Acts of witchcraft and wickedness are unleashed against the Church. Hatred burns in the hearts of satanic agents against the Body of Christ. Lies are fabricated from the pit of hell to discredit men and women of God. We must use our tongues to condemn the weapons satan unleashes against the Church (Isaiah 54:17). Jesus Christ has given us the weapon of the Word – the two-edged sword to fight against satan’s attacks. We are instructed to condemn every tongue that rises up against us.
Prayer:
I am strong in the Lord and in the power of His Might. Grace me Lord to remain steadfast in prayer.
