Month Theme: Manifestation
Topic: The Curse and the Cruise
Scripture Reading: 2 Kings 2:10-22
Main Text:
Romans 8:19
19 For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.
The leaders of Jericho acknowledged the bad state of their land (2 Kings 2:19). The water of the city of Jericho was bad and caused unfruitfulness in the land. “The situation in the city is pleasant” – the place of fragrance and the city of palm trees looked prosperous. There were beautiful buildings and trees and gardens but no actual fruitfulness. Literally the Hebrew text says, “the land causes barrenness.” The problem may have been related to human life. Some elements in the water polluted it and caused sterility. This produced barrenness or miscarriages in plant and human life.
Sardis was extremely fertile; it was commercially important; the art of dyeing wool was probably invented there (dying creates false hope and impression); great architectural skill of the people. But it was spiritually dead (Revelation 3:1). This is the sad state of many people and cities.
Jericho looked good but there was a curse on it. Sardis had a name that it was alive but it was dead. Elisha broke the curse on Jericho and healed the waters by throwing salt from a new cruse into it. The new cruse represented Elisha – the manifestation – and the salt represented the content of the manifestation – the power and glory. Your manifestation is not one of emptiness. You are manifesting with power and glory, to turn situations around to the glory of God.
Prayer: Pray and declare the end of every negative trend around you. Pronounce the beginning of good things.
