Month Theme: The Sons of Oil
Topic: The Indwelling Anointing
Scripture Reading: Genesis 2:1-25
Main Text:
Zechariah 4:14
14 Then said he, These are the two anointed ones, that stand by the Lord of the whole earth.
Being a son of someone means you have something from him or her and it is part of you. No one can take it from you.
The anointing resides in the sons of oil. The anointing is an integral part of the sons of oil – it dwells in them. The word “anointing”, in 1 John 2:27 is the Greek word, chrisma, which means unguent, unction of the Holy Ghost.
The Greek word Charisma however, as in 1 Corinthians 12:4 is a gift of the Holy Ghost – spiritual or special endowment or miraculous faculty.
Chrisma is the person of the Holy Ghost in the believer who teaches him or her the truth and empowers him or her. Charisma on the other hand is the ability the Holy Ghost gives the believer to minister to others. Anointing services serve more as reminders of who (Chrisma) we already have than receiving someone new.
We have the anointing. Too many anointing services tell believers otherwise. They are constantly looking for someone (the anointing) they already have. People wrongly pursue the Charisma more than the Chrisma.
Charisma can be imparted to us by others but we already have the Chrisma.
The word “abideth” in 1 John 2:27 is the Greek word menō which means abide, remain, dwell, continue, tarry and endure. The anointing is so deeply embedded in us that it is difficult to lose it. We are the sons of oil and cannot lose our identity. The embedded anointing enables us to accomplish our purposes. The embedded anointing gives us the capacity to ACCOMPLISH our missions – to complete successfully. Accomplishment comprises Acquisition (getting the things we need to fulfil our missions),
Achievement (obtaining the results of our endeavours) and Actualisation (becoming the person God wants us to be).
Prayer: Pray for the grace to always be conscious of the indwelling anointing and not the circumstances surrounding you.
