Month Theme: Restoration
Topic: Restoration of All Things
Scripture Reading: 2 Kings 8:1-10
Main Text:
2 Kings 8:6
6 And when the king asked the woman, she told him. So the king appointed unto her a certain officer, saying, Restore all that was hers, and all the fruits of the field since the day that she left the land, even until now.
The Shunammite woman dwelled in the land of Philistines during the time of famine in Israel for seven years. She returned from exile and the King restored to her all that was hers. She was no stranger to restoration – her son had been restored from the dead (2 Kings 8:5-6).
The Hebrew word for recover in verse 5 is ḥāyâ which also means to recover, save, revive and quicken. The Hebrew word for recover in verse 6 is shûb to return, recompense, recover and retreat. The woman had her son restored but she wasn’t settling for just that. She received the restoration of all other things that was hers.
The Shunammite was a restoration specialist. The three things restored to her represent everything restored:
- Family
Son restored – our family members saved, healed, blessed and reconciled to us. Dead things restored. - Finances
All that was hers restored – represents houses, wealth and other properties. Occupied things restored. - Fields
Fruits of the field restored – represents means of livelihood, jobs, farms, ministries and companies. Your fields will give you fruits you were not there to cultivate. Abandoned things are restored.
He is Elyashib, the God who restores (Psalm 23:1-3).
Prayer: Pray for a restoration of all things you were forced, by circumstances, to leave behind. Let God raise somebody to speak on your behalf.
