Month Theme: The Sons of Oil
Topic: The Two Anointings
Scripture Reading: Genesis 2:1-25
Main Text:
Zechariah 4:14
14 Then said he, These are the two anointed ones, that stand by the Lord of the whole earth.
At the beginning of the creation, God declared that it was not good for man to be alone and made “a help meet for him”. Although the helper that God gave to man was the woman, we can infer from man’s needs that he needs help from both women and men to be complete and to operate effectively. The woman likewise needs both men and women to be complete and to operate effectively.
Before God created woman to help man, He remarked that it was not good for him to be alone (Genesis 2:18-25). He admitted the man’s need before He provided the solution. The enthusiasm with which Adam received Eve, proves that he acknowledged his need for Eve’s support. It is not good for anyone to be alone. We must acknowledge this need and link up with another person to be complete.
Jesus Christ said that a man would leave his father and mother and cleave to his wife to become one flesh with her (Matthew 19:5-6). It is expected that when two believers are married, two anointed ones are married. They should be able to fulfil their mutual purpose together. The writer of the book of Ecclesiastes says that two people are better than one because they have a good reward for their labour (Ecclesiastes 4:9-12). There are many battles in life. Two people can fight and win together. One person is vulnerable in the time of adversity. The anointing attracts battles. Two anointed ones – sons of oil – fight for each other and defeat the enemy.
Prayer: Pray that you will locate the other person you need in your life to support you fulfil your purpose.
