Topic: SEE THE FRUIT IN YOU
THEME SCRIPTURE:
Galatians 5:22-23 (NKJV)
[22] But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, [23] gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.
MESSAGE:
Some Bible scholars have referred to our theme Scripture as a description of the “Fruit of the Holy Spirit.” But reading this Scripture in the context of the preceding verses shows that our theme Scripture rather refers to the “fruit of the recreated spirit.”
The translators spelt “spirit” with a capital “S”, and that’s why some have thought that our theme Scripture was referring to the fruit of the Holy Spirit. We don’t compare the flesh with the Holy Spirit; we compare the flesh with the human spirit. The preceding verses spoke about “The works of the flesh” (Galatians 5:19-21); therefore, this Scripture is a reference to the works of the flesh as against the fruit of the recreated spirit.
The fruit of the recreated spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Can you see the fruit in you? The work of recreation of the human spirit by the Holy Spirit, produces in every child of God the above-mentioned virtues. This is the fruit in you! Until you see this fruit in you and walk in the consciousness of it, you’ll not be able to function as such.
One aspect of this fruit in you is joy! You have joy in your spirit if you’re born again. Joy is not the same as happiness. Joy is independent of your external circumstance, while happiness is dependent on your external circumstance. You can rejoice in the Lord always, because you have joy in you!
