Luke 1:80
80 And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, and was in the deserts till the day of his shewing unto Israel.
The second Greek word is paidion (pahee-dee’-on). The word “child” in Luke 1:80 is the term paidion. It was used for children after they were approximately 2 years old, up to the age of 11 or 12 (prior to their bar-mitzvah for boys). During this stage of life in the “natural” or physical world, a child begins to discover their own will, and to want their own way. The child begins to choose what he or she will wear, who his or her friends are, etc.
Though the child is beginning to discover his or her own will, he or she is not yet matured enough to take serious decisions. The Bible says John the Baptist at this stage of his life was hidden (Luke 1:80). He grew and waxed strong in the Spirit while in the wilderness. There are many children in the Body of Christ who should be in hiding, praying, studying the Word and seeking the face of God regarding their assignments on earth, who have exposed themselves prematurely. Many half-baked believers are parading about with titles and charisma, while God is waiting for them at the secret place. Many of such believers end up becoming casualties in the Kingdom, as the enemy launches out at them with diverse trials and temptations. Rebellion can begin to show at this stage, and discipline is needed to correct it.
Jesus Christ was hidden at until he passed this stage of life. When he appeared, He appeared He was matured enough to have discussions with doctors of the law (Luke 2:46-50). John the Baptist was in hiding “till the day of his shewing forth unto Israel”. You may not be known; your ministry or business may not be known. That should not weigh you down. Keep incubating that vision. Your time of manifestation will come. Your time of showing forth will come.
Prayer: Pray for the wisdom and discipline to stay in hiding till the day of your showing forth.
