Topic: DON’T GIVE IT ATTENTION
THEME SCRIPTURE:
2 Corinthians 4:17-18 (KJV)
[17] For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; [18] While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.
MESSAGE:
Faith is not living in denial of the facts of our situation. Rather, faith uses the truth of God’s Word to change the facts we see.
Our theme Scripture begins with Apostle Paul’s acknowledgement of the existence of undeniable facts of a situation; he called it, “Our light affliction.” We don’t deny the existence of the current global pandemic; it is an undeniable fact, and yet, it is a light affliction when weighed against what it will ultimately produce. According to our theme Scripture, for as much as our current situation is within the realm of the physical senses, it is temporary. It is for a moment; it is not forever, and it will ultimately work for us, a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory!
The verse 18 of our theme Scripture reveals how this is achieved; it says, “While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.” The phrase, “While we look not at the things which are seen” is from a Greek word which also means, “While we do not consider it” or “While we do not give it attention.” In other words, we do not deny the existence of a global pandemic, but we do not give it attention; we do not make it the subject of our attention and affection.
Child of God, for you to live above the impact of the current global pandemic, don’t give it attention! Yes, it has become a part of our existence and may even become endemic, but don’t give it attention! Live above this global pandemic by making God’s Word the object of your attention and affection.
