Month Theme: The Anointing
Topic: The Anointing is Simple
Scripture Reading: Hebrews 4:1-12; Acts 10:30-40
Main Text:
Hebrews 4:12
12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
The anointing has been so misrepresented, misunderstood and mystified that it is helpful to elaborate on its simplicity.
The word “simplicity” means easy to understand or do. Handling the anointing is as simple as handling the Word of God. The Word of God is simple enough to be handled by every born-again, Spirit-filled and obedient person. It is compared to a two-edged sword in Hebrews 4:12.
Three characteristics of the two-edged sword describe the nature – simplicity – of the anointing:
1. Alive:
Quick – alive. The Word of God and the anointing see and know things. The anointing gives your spirit information and illuminates your mind.
2. Active: Powerful – active, effectual and operative. The anointing speaks and does things. You don’t have to help the anointing. It is superior to you.
3. Accurate:
Sharper – more keen, single stroke. The anointing produces tangible effects and results. The anointing executes its assignment with accuracy. The anointing heals and delivers accurately.
Revelation knowledge and the anointing don’t belong to spiritual sages, but to everyone who has the Spirit of God in him or her (Romans 10:6-8). The Word of God is close to you. It is in your heart, and your mouth is the missile-launcher that releases the Word of God and the anointing.
Prayer: Thank God His anointing is available to you.
